WHAS11 Health and Fitness Expo WHERE: Kentucky International Convention Center – Exhibit Halls 1A&B
WHEN: Friday, July 22th and Saturday, July 23th 10am – 5pm
Admission is FREE Join FlamencoTalk at the third annual WHAS11 Health and Fitness Expo at the Kentucky International Convention Center this weekend, Friday and Saturday, July 22-23, 10am-5pm. FlamencoTalk will have a booth where we'll be doing flamenco demonstrations, talking about flamenco and Spanish culture, and fun ways to stay fit. This FREE event will feature activities fun for the whole family. In addition to meeting your favorite WHAS11 news professionals,“General Hospital” star Jason Thompson (Dr. Patrick Drake) will make a special appearance on Friday, July 22th. On Saturday, July 23th, “One Life to Live” star Kassie DePaiva (Blair Cramer) will be signing autographs. Parking: Attendees can park in the Commonwealth Garage is located on Jefferson Street between Third and Fourth Streets (next to the Hyatt Regency Hotel) and is closest to Exhibit Halls 1A&B. Fees are $2 per hour up to 3 hours and $8 for 3 hours to 8 hours. Get healthy! Get fit!

Fiesta Flamenca was a Hit!

Fiesta Flamenca was a huge success! Despite the rain and snow, it was HOT, HOT, HOT at our flamenco studio! The Sangria was flowing, the tapas were delicious, and the Flamenco music and dance - the perfect entertainment.

What does the word "Flamenco" mean? There are several theories of what the word "Flamenco" actually means, all of which are pretty speculative. One popular theory says that the word originated from Arabic 'felag mengu' or 'fellah mengu', which means 'peasants without land'.

Performances

From Spain to Kentucky... or Vice Versa? FlamencoTalk brings internationally celebrated talent, Francisco Javier Orozco “Yiyi” to Kentucky for two events you will not want to miss! "Yiyi" is a profoundly emotional and sensitive singer and an amazing percussionist who has toured the world with leading flamenco dancers and companies. He is certainly on the list of highly sought after flamenco performers. On Saturday, September 24th, Yiyi will be performing with FlamencoTalk musicians and dancers across the Bluegrass State. To begin the day, they will be featured at the Bowling Green International Festival⎯a diverse cultural celebration held at Circus Square Park just a short ride down Highway 65. And in the evening, the group will transform Louisville's Caffe Classico into a flamenco tablao. Both events promise to transport you from the Bluegrass and deliver you to the land of the gypsies!

Some previous training required. Contact the instructor for guidance and clarification on prerequisites for this class.
